One of the elements of the 2015 Symposium in Durham, NC, will be a silent auction. In the past, our auctions have been extremely successful raising significant money for the Furniture Society. This year, the auction will be open to the general public as well as members, and we expect to have good traffic. We are soliciting donations for the auction. Keep in mind that, this year, not only will you be supporting the Furniture Society, but you could be finding potential customers, so carefully consider what you might be able to contribute.
If you wish to contribute, please email Kathy Sharp and give her an idea of what you might be able to do.
If you will not be attending the symposium, but would still like to contribute, we will be accepting mail at the FS office in Durham after June 1. Once again, contact Kathy Sharp for details.
The American Tobacco Historic District (ATC) has gained national attention as a model for reusing historical buildings and helped jump-start a larger revitalization of a city that had suffered since the decline of its tobacco industry.
ATC encompasses more than a million square feet of office space where more than 4,000 people work, many of them at the innovative startups and creative industries for which the elegantly converted factories are best known.
More than a million people visited the district last year to see a Durham Bulls game, eat at one of its restaurants, hear music in its courtyard or attend other events.
