Monica Obniski is the Demmer Curator of 20th and 21st Century Design at the Milwaukee Art Museum, where she reinstalled the design galleries, co-curated Serious Play: Design in Midcentury America (on view at the Denver Art Museum in May 2019), coordinated the exhibitions How Posters Work and Jaime Hayon: Technicolor, and is currently organizing an international traveling exhibition with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for 2020-21 called Scandinavian Design and the United States, 1890-1980. Prior to arriving to the MAM, Monica held curatorial positions at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and has lectured and published on a wide range of topics. Obniski received an MA in the History of Decorative Arts and Design from the Bard Graduate Center, and a PhD from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
