Hobo Carving and Trick Whittling

Often erroneously seen as a process only achieved by hobos and tramps, follow a developed history of whittling steeped in hobo mystique and often hidden technique. Through trick carving and additive, sculptural chip carving, Taylor Rushing will demonstrate the creation of a tramp art box and give insight into the often-troublesome nature of the Ball-in-Cage.

Counterpoise Shelf Construction – Willow and Found Objects

In this demonstration, Justin Roberts shares the creation of a counterpoised shelf crafted from found materials and sustainable willow. Addressing willow uses, identification, and behavior, Justin recalls the knowledge passed to him by master artist, George Beard.
